Experience:

The Director of Operations will report directly to the General Manager and functions as the business leader for all areas of operations, including Rooms and Food and Beverage. Responsibilities include executing flawless guest experiences, revenue generation, cost and policy controls, staffing, safety and sanitation. Ensures implementation and delivery of the service standards and initiatives to exceed guest expectations, increase profit and market share. Manages front of house and back of house operational departments, with clear and specific goals and accountability. This position is actively involved in the local community and builds strong relationships with local officials, businesses, and guests.

Responsibilities:

  • Train associates to achieve desired service levels.
  • Develop and implement arrival and departure experience.
  • Manage rooms departments, with the assistance of the GM, to achieve financial goals.
  • Work with GM on re-forecasting, checkbook accounting and annual budgets.
  • Actively take part in Rev-Max calls, implement rev-max strategies for the transient segment and manage rooms inventory daily.
  • Review and stay on top of all Front Desk systems.
  • Review all guest comments. Act on complaints by responding to the customer and providing feedback to the team.
  • Conduct monthly departmental meetings, designed as communication tool.
  • Collaborate with DOS on group segments from rooming lists to check in procedures.
  • Lead daily meetings in housekeeping, set and review productivity.
  • Perform daily rooms inspections with housekeeping supervisor and maintenance.
  • Set and maintain standards for guest room appearance.
  • Orders all items listed in P/L to ensure uninterrupted business flow.
  • Assists other departments and understands the interaction between them.
  • Assists in preparing weekly and monthly reports for ownership and management company.
  • Assists GM in HR related functions such as job posting, interviewing, hiring, on boarding and reviewing of room associates.

Requirements:

  • 5 years’ experience in hotel operations management, or related professional area
  • Food and Beverage Manager experience in full service/convention hotel
  • Rooms and Related Manager experience in full service/convention hotel.
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours including weekends and nights as business requires
  • Strong desire to develop into a General Manager
  • Strong customer relations skills and leadership capability
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skill
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to make quick decisions, problem solve to achieve guest satisfaction while ensuring compliance with policy and financial standards
