Banquet Cook-Job Description

The Banquet Cook is responsible for preparing and presenting high-quality food for large-scale events such as weddings, conferences, and corporate functions. This role supports the banquet kitchen team in delivering consistent, timely, and visually appealing dishes in accordance with Marriott standards.

Food Preparation & Execution

• Prepare ingredients and cook menu items according to banquet event orders (BEOs)

• Execute large-volume cooking while maintaining consistency and quality

• Follow standardized recipes and presentation guidelines

• Assist with plating for buffets, plated dinners, and specialty events

Event Service Support

• Work closely with banquet chefs and event team to meet service timelines

• Ensure food is delivered on time for scheduled events

• Assist in setting up and breaking down banquet kitchen stations

Quality & Safety

• Maintain strict food safety and sanitation standards (HACCP)

• Ensure proper food storage, labeling, and rotation (FIFO)

• Keep workstations clean and organized throughout shifts

Team Collaboration

• Communicate effectively with kitchen staff, servers, and banquet manager and captains

• Support other kitchen areas when needed 

• Previous experience in a hotel, banquet, or high-volume kitchen required

• Knowledge of culinary techniques and kitchen equipment

• Ability to work under pressure in fast-paced environments

• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays

• Food safety certification (or willingness to obtain)

• Stand for extended periods

• Lift up to 25–50 lbs

• Work in hot, fast-paced kitchen environments
