Area Sales and Catering Manager – J Collection Hotels, New Orleans

The Area Sales and Catering Manager plays a key role in driving catering and event revenue across the J Collection Hotels in New Orleans, working collaboratively with on-property and regional leadership to develop business, strengthen community relationships, and deliver exceptional client experiences.

In this role, you will actively prospect and qualify new catering business, manage existing accounts, produce and review contracts, respond to inquiries, and provide customized proposals in line with Waterford’s standards of excellence.

This position reports to the Area Director of Sales and Marketing and offers the opportunity to represent a diverse portfolio of boutique and lifestyle hotels, each with its own unique story and guest experience.

Responsibilities:

• Partner with property and regional teams to develop and execute catering sales strategies across multiple J Collection hotels.

• Assist in the creation and implementation of promotional packages and initiatives to drive catering business.

• Achieve personal and portfolio catering sales goals while setting a positive example for peers.

• Recommend realistic booking goals based on market trends, competitive insights, and property needs.

• Conduct client calls, site visits, and presentations to secure new business and close event opportunities.

• Execute and support all aspects of booked business (proposals, contracts, event detailing, and client communication).

• Collaborate closely with culinary, banquet, and operations teams to ensure flawless event execution.

• Represent the J Collection brand with professionalism, enthusiasm, and a deep understanding of the local market.

Requirements:

• Associate’s degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or a related field (Bachelor’s degree preferred).

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in catering sales, event management, or hotel sales.

• Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

• Proven success in lead generation, client negotiations, and closing business.

• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with a passion for service.

• Ability to work collaboratively across departments and multiple properties.
