The Ideal Candidate for this Position

The ideal candidate will have a culinary degree along with a progressive career in culinary arts at fine establishments. Candidates without a culinary degree, but with extensive culinary work experience, are considered. The successful candidate should have hands-on experience with a similar organization's level of service and operation. Creativity is a must with a keen eye on the budget. The Executive Chef will be expected to have demonstrated leadership ability in managing and motivating the associates on his or her team.

The Sheraton Flowood is seeking an experienced and passionate Executive Chef to lead the culinary operation of our full-service hotel. This is a hands-on leadership role for a culinary professional who thrives in a high-volume environment and is passionate about delivering an exceptional experience across restaurant, banquet, catering, and event operations.

Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Executive Chef will oversee all aspects of the hotel's culinary operations, from menu development and food quality to financial performance, staffing, training, purchasing, sanitation, and kitchen operations.

The Executive Chef will provide dynamic leadership to the culinary team while creating a culture focused on quality, consistency, creativity, teamwork, and hospitality. This individual will work closely with Food & Beverage, Sales, and hotel leadership to execute memorable events, support future business opportunities, and continually enhance the culinary experience at the Sheraton Flowood.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Lead the day-to-day culinary operations of the hotel, including restaurant, banquet, catering, and event food production
• Provide hands-on leadership, coaching, training, and development to the culinary team
• Recruit, develop, motivate, and retain a talented and engaged culinary team
• Create and execute menus that balance creativity, guest expectations, operational efficiency, and profitability
• Oversee the production and execution of banquets and special events with a strong emphasis on quality, presentation, timing, and consistency
• Partner closely with the Sales and Catering teams to support group business, special events, menu planning, tastings, and future opportunities
• Manage food and labor costs, inventory, purchasing, scheduling, budgeting, and forecasting
• Monitor business levels and adjust staffing and production accordingly to meet operational and financial objectives
• Establish and maintain production sheets, prep standards, recipes, and kitchen procedures
• Maintain strong relationships with vendors while ensuring product quality and effective cost management
• Ensure all food preparation, storage, sanitation, cleanliness, and safety standards are consistently maintained
• Maintain the highest standards of food quality, presentation, guest service, and overall culinary execution
• Support community engagement and local partnership opportunities that showcase the hotel and its culinary offerings
• Collaborate with hotel leadership to establish departmental goals and continually identify opportunities to improve the guest and Associate experience
• Ensure compliance with Sheraton/Marriott brand standards and all applicable health, safety, and sanitation requirements
• Must be able to successfully complete a background check
